Who We Are

All three of the Lost Bus members are long time best friends and graduates of Holland Christian High School. Their dream has become a reality through establishing the Lost Bus. All members have had to give up a lot in order to make this dream a reality but decided the excitement of travel and their enthusiasm to make a change in the world out weighed their losses. Here is a short background bio of all three members that you may like to know.

Ben Tucker

My parents instilled a strong love for the outdoors in me at a young age. Our family would take annual road trips to America's most beautiful places. Spending time in Yosemite, Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Sequoia National Parks changed my life forever. Kayaking, hiking, and biking are some of my favorite ways to spend time. After graduating with Chad and Derek from Holland Christian I went on to get an associates of liberal arts from Grand Rapids Community College. My interests are so vast and varied that I had trouble deciding what to pursue, so I put my education on hold. A unique opportunity arose and I moved to the Rocky Mountains of Montana to train sled dogs for the Iditarod. After a wonderful winter in the mountains of Montana and Alaska, my passion for adventure was renewed. Living the Lost Bus lifestyle is the perfect way for me to combine the things that I love. I am excited to simplify life, travel, explore, serve, learn, and help keep America beautiful! I am blessed to be embarking on this journey with two of my greatest friends!

Derek Evenhouse

I am a graduate of Central Michigan University with a degree in Outdoor Recreation and Education and a minor in Natural Resources. I also was fortunate to go to Australia and study Outdoor Leadership and Education at La Trobe University. I completed my schooling through a 7 month internship out in Idaho at Mountain Home Air Force Base working at their Outdoor Adventure Program. In the last few years of my life I have fell in love with traveling and adventure so I continued this passion by co-founding the Lost Bus. I love helping others and making people laugh is what I do best. In my free time I enjoy the outdoors through running, hiking, biking, and all paddling sports. This journey is a life changing experience and has allowed me to revolutionize my perspective on life as a whole. I am always excited to meet new people and find it to be my greatest privilege on the bus; together we are one human family.

I would say I’m a hard working individual who wants to experience life to its fullest. After graduating high school, I bought my first house and continued working at a furniture company to pay the bills. From there I pursued a career in the garbage industry driving truck and waking up way too early. After being involved in a terrible accident on my route and spending plenty of time in the hospital, I realized life is short and was ready for an adventure. That’s where the bus came in. In my free time I enjoy hiking, kayaking both rivers and lakes, and bicycling on and off the pavement. The great thing about the Lost Bus for me is that I get to tie all of my hobbies and work ethics together and demonstrate them while helping others and having fun. That is why I have decided to take the plunge and rent my house and store my toys for the experience of a lifetime. I couldn’t be happier to do with two better folks than Derek and Ben, two very longtime friends and brothers
